AUCC SHWC provides a range of high quality and confidential services. Services include primary care, behavioral/mental health and wellness services. The clinical team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and mental health providers (psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers and professionals-in-training).
Primary Care Services
Primary care services include physical exams, women鈥檚 health care, STI/STD screenings, management of ongoing health conditions, treatment for illnesses and injuries. Services are provided by physicians, nurse practitioners and registered nurses.
Behavioral/Mental Health Services
Students seeking mental health services from the SHWC Behavioral Health team undergo an initial assessment followed by the development of an individualized care plan. The individualized care plan may include recommendations for individual therapy, group therapy, medication management, or referrals to the community for specialized care. Our team is trained to assess and support a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Referrals to community providers may be necessary to offer more specialized support as needed. The SHWC Behavioral Health team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and professionals in-training.
Immunizations and Travel Health
At SHWC, students may receive a variety of required and recommended vaccines as well as Travel Health visits. While the administration of vaccines are of no cost to students, the vaccines themselves will be billed to insurance. Please verify coverage of vaccines with your insurance carrier.
Wellness Services
At SHWC, we encourage students to Empower, Believe, Become. SHWC inspires students to empower themselves by being proactive in their health and wellbeing, to believe in their capabilities academically and personally and to become all that they desire to be. SHWC Wellness Services provide health education and health promotion programs to all students. Areas of interest to students include stress management, alcohol, drugs, nutrition, healthy relationships, sexual health, physical and mental wellness.
Prevention and Management of Blood/Body Fluid Exposures
The SHWC provides a variety of services to prevent transmission of potentially hazardous blood/body fluids and management of exposures. Services such PrEP, PEP, and counseling on preventative measures are available in our clinic. Clinical students are provided annual N-95 fit testing, blood borne pathogen training and other OSHA required trainings for clinical rotations.
